October is where the fixture list stops being polite. A short international stretch comes first, then four straight Premier League matchweeks with nothing in between. If you are opening a Bet9ja account this month, the promotion code is YOHAIG.

What the YOHAIG code actually does

Bet9ja puts a promotion code box on the registration form, and it gets skipped more often than you would think. Type YOHAIG into that box and the account is flagged for the welcome offer, worth up to ₦100,000 depending on your first deposit. There is no way to apply it later, which is why the field matters at sign-up.

The code costs nothing to use. It applies to new accounts only, and the bonus carries rollover conditions like every welcome offer in the Nigerian market. Read them on the promo page before you fund the account.

Register with promotion code YOHAIG to claim up to ₦100,000 welcome bonus.

The first week belongs to the national teams

The UEFA Nations League runs its third and fourth rounds between the 1st and the 6th of October, so the opening week is international football only. The Super Eagles finish their break against Russia in Nizhny Novgorod on Tuesday 6 October. The kick-off time was still unannounced when this went up, so confirm it before you stake.

The club season returns on 10 October

The clubs are back from Saturday 10 October. The Saturday runs from Arsenal against Leeds United through to Manchester United versus Tottenham Hotspur, then Anfield has Liverpool against Manchester City on Sunday. A week later you get Everton versus Chelsea, Newcastle United against Aston Villa, and Nottingham Forest hosting Arsenal on Sunday evening.

The third matchweek opens on Friday 23 October with Ipswich Town against Nottingham Forest and runs through to Chelsea hosting Tottenham Hotspur on the Saturday evening. The final Saturday, 31 October, opens with Chelsea against Manchester United and ends with Aston Villa versus Fulham.

Worth noting: Manchester City have reportedly been found guilty on all but one of their 115 charges. What the punishment looks like was still unknown at the time of writing. If anything lands mid-season it moves the title and relegation markets hard, so watch the news before you touch a long-range bet.

A timing note worth more than most tips

The United Kingdom returns to GMT on Sunday 25 October while Nigerian time stays where it is. Up to Saturday the 24th, a kick-off listed in UK time is the same clock time in Lagos. From the 25th onward, add an hour: a match listed at 15:00 in England starts at 16:00 in Nigeria.

Practical notes for October

•

• Fill the promo field while registering, since there is no way back to it. YOHAIG only works on the way in.

• Set a monthly figure before the clubs come back and stick to it. Four straight matchweeks makes it easy to drift.
